Dance & Performance: Movement Meets Cinema

I’ll be honest: before I got into dance videography, I didn't realize that dancers were some of the most elite athletes on the planet. Working as the official videographer for Elite Dance Productions with Creative Director Amey Rahey changed my entire perspective on movement.

Dance taught me how to capture attention. Both live performance and cinematography share a goal: hold the crowd. Whether it’s House of Eights or the Dalhousie Dance Society, I use a multi-camera approach to respect the choreography while bringing a cinematic "eye" that highlights the grit and grace of the stage.

I think back to being a kid, sitting in front of the TV, and realize that the most memorable commercials never really left my mind. They weren’t just ads; they were tiny, 30-second movies. Today, that’s what I aim to replicate for brands like Locks & Mane, Oakley & Son, and Tomavinos.

I love the technical "magic" of commercial work—shaping the light to make a product texture pop or using VFX to add that extra layer of polish. It’s about taking a client’s "Wants vs. Needs" and molding them into a premium aesthetic that sticks in the viewer's brain, just like those commercials did for me years ago.

I LOVE BEING A VIDEOGRAPHER!

From the replaced people of Africville to high-speed go-karts at the Halifax Grand Prix, my job has given me a front-row seat to the best stories Nova Scotia has to offer.
