The Invisible Foundation:
Audio & Light
There’s a saying in the industry: 'People will forgive a slightly blurry image, but they will never forgive bad audio.' If the sound is thin or the lighting is flat, the story loses its impact. My approach to the 'invisible' parts of production is simple: Zero failures, total control.

Audio: My Zero-Failure Policy
When a groom is whispering his vows or a CEO is delivering a keynote, there are no "second takes." I utilize a Triple-Redundant Audio System to ensure that every word is captured with crystal clarity, regardless of wind or room acoustics.
-
Tascam DR-10L (The Discrete Workhorses): I run a set of these dedicated body recorders—one in white for bridal gowns and one in black for suits. These are tiny, invisible, and record directly to internal storage. Even if the wireless signal drops, the recording is safe.
-
Rode Wireless GO & Shotgun Systems: For fast-paced interviews and b-roll, I use a mix of wireless lavaliers and boom-mounted shotgun mics. This allows me to capture "ambient" sound—the rustle of a dress or the cheer of a crowd—while keeping the primary voice crisp and front-and-center.
-
Zoom H4n (The Hub): For large events at the Halifax Convention Centre or wedding receptions, I use the Zoom H4n to pull a direct feed from the DJ or house soundboard. This gives me the cleanest possible version of the music and speeches.

Lighting:
Shaping the Atmosphere
I don't just "brighten" a room; I shape it. Lighting is the difference between a basic and an amazing shot. If it's on the dance floor or doing a corporate interview, lighting matters. When our lights go up, it feels like you step onto a movie set.
Godox VL300 (The Power):
This is my "sun." It is a high-output, color-accurate light that allows me to overpower dark shadows or mimic natural window light, even in a windowless room.
Zhiyun Molus x100 & Nanlite PavoTubes:
These are my creative tools. Using RGB-capable tube lights, I can add a "pop" of brand color to a corporate set or a wash of cinematic teal and orange to a music video. They are portable, fast to set up, and allow me to be creative on the fly.
Reflectors & Bounces:
I use a variety of modifiers to soften light, ensuring that skin tones look flattering and "soft" rather than harsh and oily. This is the "secret sauce" to making everyone on camera look their absolute best.

The "Why" Behind
the Kit
-
The "Stealth" Factor: Using color-matched mics (white for white, black for black) shows an attention to detail that keeps the viewer's focus on the person, not the equipment.
-
Redundancy: By recording on multiple devices at once, I eliminate the risk of technical failure. This is why I am trusted with high-stakes events like national dance tours and once-in-a-lifetime weddings.
-
Atmospheric Control: With my RGB lighting, I can match the "vibe" of any brand. Whether you want a clean "Apple" look or a moody, cinematic "Netflix" feel, I have the tools to paint that image.
